Enjoying Massachusetts at its best…
It is known as the commerce and hub of Cape Cod — the hook-shaped peninsula of the New England State, which is a couple of hours’ drive from Boston.
Hyannis Port is most well-known for being the location of the Kennedy compound and other Kennedy family residents.
I managed to enjoy three run-outs during my short stay — and as I was based a stone’s throw away from the Marina front — that served as the starting point for each run.
Given Hyannis Port is a tiny little village — running routes are hard to come by in the sense it’s quite higgledy-piggledy and stop-start.
The longest stretches, which I found, were heading up to Main Street or following the Ocean Street path to the beach and reaching John F.Kennedy Memorial Park.
Luckily, the roads weren’t very busy so it was easy to cross, twist and turn quickly, though the pavements were quite narrow and generally not too smooth.
If you’re looking for a quality workout, specific speed session or even long run, then this probably isn’t the place. Indeed, you’d have to factor in a looped route to do bigger mileage.
But, if you just want to do a morning 5km or few miles before dinner, then it’s the perfect little shakeout.
So, here’s a snapshot of my runs:
